The journey is easy, lush with vegitation and many sign to lead you the way. We will start our journey from mountainous Anatoli, a village with rich history and natural beauty. During the war with the Germans, the inhabitants put up a big fight. This is also where General Kissavos fought. Today, the population comes to 397 inhabitants in the winter and 850 during the summer. Their income is mainly based on agriculture and stock-breeding. The village is 41km far from Larisa and a few kilometres (dirt road) from Agia at an altitude of about 1000 km. We start our hike from the village square, where you can visit the church of Agios Georgios with a large collection of post-byzantine icons. We will follow path O2 which connects Olympos with Kissavos and Pilio. Metaksochori (Silk village) is one of the most beautiful villages in the area with many traditional houses, most of which belonged to noblemen, with important history and tradition. Its name comes from the silk industry it had developed in the past. There is a lot of water, lush vegitation, with large sicamore trees and watermills and many people refer to this village as that of artists, because there are many artists who visit it. * Duration of journey: 2,5 hours * Duration of programme: 3 hours * Children must be 10 and over * Minimum group of 6 people * The programme operates all year round |
